Dr. Des Groome
Dr Des Groome graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from NUI University College Dublin in 1993. Dr Des furthered his career in veterinary medicine by going on to work in the UK, Saudi Arabia, France, and the USA providing veterinary surgery to racehorses, camels, and companion animals. In 2012 Dr Des went on to complete a Finance Masters degrees from University College Cork. In 2000 Dr Des founded Groome Vets Veterinary Hospital in Kildare where he provides complete surgical and clinical services to pet owners. He has experience treating a diverse range of species from dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, exotic birds, reptiles, amphibians and even pet pigs and goats. With this wealth of experience Dr Des is expertly qualified to advise pet owners on the slightest issue. From 2005 to 2012 Dr Des hosted a weekly animal health information show on local radio, has worked on neutering campaigns with local animal charities, judged at local dog shows and has written in local and national press on animal health issues. He enjoys cycling, reading, dog training and horse racing. Dr Des breeds German and Belgian shepherds and lives in Kildare with Josh, a cairn mix terrier, Eric a Labrador mix, and his three teenage sons.
